Swapping Tokens on the blockchain with MetaMask

Your step-by-step guide to swapping Ethereum for another token using the Uniswap dapp inside your MetaMask wallet.

1. Accessing Uniswap with the MetaMask Browser

1. Open the MetaMask app on your smartphone.
2. Tap on the "Browser" icon at the bottom of the screen.
3. In the browser's address bar, type app.uniswap.org and press enter.
4. The Uniswap interface will load, and you’ll be ready to start swapping tokens.

2. Connecting Your Wallet to Uniswap

1. On the Uniswap homepage, tap on the "Connect Wallet" button.
2. Choose "MetaMask" from the list of wallet options.
3. A MetaMask prompt will appear asking you to connect your wallet to Uniswap. Tap "Connect" to proceed.
4. Once connected, you’ll see your Ethereum balance displayed on the Uniswap interface.

3. Swapping Ethereum for Another Token

1. On the Uniswap interface, ensure that Ethereum (ETH) is selected as the input token.
2. Tap on the "Select a token" dropdown to choose the token you want to swap Ethereum for.
3. Enter the amount of Ethereum you want to swap, or tap on "Max" to use your full balance.
4. The interface will show the estimated amount of the selected token you’ll receive. Review the details carefully.
5. Tap "Swap", and a MetaMask confirmation screen will appear. Review the gas fees and tap "Confirm" to complete the swap.
6. After a short wait, the transaction will be processed, and the new tokens will appear in your MetaMask wallet.

4. Reviewing the Transaction

1. After the swap is complete, return to the MetaMask app’s main screen.
2. Tap on "Assets" to see the new tokens added to your wallet.
3. If you don’t see the new token, tap on "Import Tokens" and search for the token name or paste the token contract address.
4. Once the token is imported, it will be visible in your asset list, and you can manage it as usual.
